Water Rescue Training

By Captain Jason Kurtz
August 21, 2006
For Monday night drill, members loaded up Rescue Squad 2, Engine 23 and Engine 222 and headed to Long Point in Golden Beach. Once at the pier, firefighters began retreiving all of the water rescue equipment from the Rescue Squad and prepared to train. Once a familiarization was done with all of the equipment, several members put on the coldwater rescue suits. While in the suits and in the water, everyone was taught the basics about the suits and how to rescue victims from the open water. This was a great training exercise for all involved, as it is something we dont get to experience much. All units were in quarters by 2100 hours.
