| On Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at 0301 hours, units were dispatched to Point Lookout Road in Mechanicsville following reports of a single-vehicle collision. While initial call information indicated a vehicle had run off the roadway with no injuries, law enforcement arrived on scene to find an SUV overturned on its side against a tree with one trapped.
Chief 2B, Rescue Squad 2, Engine 23, Rescue Squad 7, Ambulance 199, Ambulance 796, Ambulance 1002, and additional EMS units responded to the scene.
Rescue Squad 2 arrived to confirm a single vehicle on its side, into a tree, with three total occupants, two having already self-extricated and one remaining trapped inside. Chief 2B established command while the Rescue Squad 2 Officer established the Extrication Group.
Crews from Rescue Squad 2 and Rescue Squad 7 deployed hydraulic rescue tools to perform an extrication, successfully freeing the patient at 0320 hours.
Engine 23 secured a landing zone nearby at Margaret Brent Middle School for MSP Trooper 7. The extricated patient was airlifted to an area trauma center. Two additional occupants were treated and transported by ground to area hospitals.
Command was terminated at 0337 hours. |
