| On July 4, 2001, Mechanicsville Firefighters responded to a motor vehicle accident reported to be overturned and subjects trapped on Baptist Church Road. Chief 2 arrived on the scene confirming a vehicle into a telephone pole and the pole was cut in half. Squad 2 arrived a short time later and immediately stabilized the vehicle. Using the most modern stabilizing equipment, firefighters were able to lower the vehicle from the pole and cut off the roof area. Once access was gained to the patient, the passenger side seat was cut out and a hydraulic ram was used to force the dashboard and door away from the patient. The patient was extricated and flown by Trooper 7 to PG Shock Trauma. |
