| At 0423 hours on July 27, 2003 Stations 2, 5, 1, Truck-1 and 29 were alerted for a reported working house fire in the area of Yowaiski Mill Road and West Winston Drive. As units were marking on the air Fireboard Communications advised that callers were reporting a vehicle on fire with extension to the residence. At 0425 hours Chief-2B arrived and advised he had a vehicle well involved with possible extension to the house. Engine-21 arrived and split into two teams. The first crew pulled a 200' 1 3/4" crosslay and extinguished the vehicle while the second crew grabbed the thermal imager and advanced a line to Side 1 of the structure in case it would be needed inside. Firefighters scanned the entire residence with the TI and advised that there was heat build up however further investigation proved that there was no actual fire on/in the structure. The radiant heat melted the vinyl siding but did not actually set anything on the house on fire. Chief-2 held units from Station-2 and the ambulance and placed the remaining units responding in service. |
