| On Saturday, January 3, 2026, the Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department (MVFD) along with the Mechanicsville Volunteer Rescue Squad, took our brother James W. “Jimmy” Burroughs to his final resting place but not before taking him for one more stroll through the bays where he walked daily for exercise. Jimmy had 70 years of service with MVFD and was well-respected by those in the department. He was a true gentleman. Jimmy not only had a love for his wife and family, but he also had a love for neatness and order. You never saw anything he owned dirty. Jimmy did a lot for MVFD. From flipping burgers at the carnival to taking over the operations of the carnival, to cutting the grass around the station(s), to serving in just about every office position in the department. Jimmy did all those things with pride and integrity. We continue to grieve with your family and will be there for them in your absence.
The department found it only fitting to give Jimmy a special send-off off and that it was! We hope it was all that you wanted, Jimmy, and that we made you proud. Rest easy, dear friend, we’ll take it from here. |
