At 4:03 PM on Thursday, July 18, 2025, emergency units from the Chief 2, Engine 22, Engine 23, and surrounding agencies responded to the area of Three Notch Road and Cedar Grove Street for a motor vehicle collision involving a concrete truck.

Initial reports indicated that the truck had struck a utility pole, bringing down live power lines and becoming immobilized in the intersection. Upon arrival, Chief 2 found one individual trapped and unconscious inside the vehicle. Due to the severity of the incident, Trooper 7, was requested and responded to the landing zone at the Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department’s parking lot. The landing Zone was handled by Engine Tanker 24

Extrication efforts were immediately initiated and completed within 20 minutes. The patient was transported by ambulance to the landing zone to be airlifted for further medical treatment.

Units were on scene for approximately 40 minutes.
