Three Flown from Collision on Budds Creek Road

At 1103 hours, Rescue Squad 2 was alerted to Budds Creek Road in the area of Davis Road for the motor vehicle accident with injuries.

As units were responding, additional information was relayed there was an EMT on scene advising a medevac would be needed. Fire Chief 2 arrived to confirm a two vehicle, head-on collision with three occupants still inside one and the operator of the other laying on the ground. Budds Creek Road Command was established and a medevac was requested for a Category "A", priority two patient. Trooper 7 was alerted as was Engine 51 to handle the landing site.

After further assessment of the occupants still inside their vehicle, the drivers door was removed in order to free the operator. EMS personnel requested a medevac for two of the three. Trooper 6 was alerted to the incident for two Category "B", priority two patients.

A total of four patients were transported, three by helicopter to area trauma centers and one by ground to Medstar St. Mary's Hospital.

Units operated for forty-five minutes on the incident.
