Saw Mill Burns in Thompson Corner

At 0351 hours, Engines 2, Charles 14, Charles 2, Charles 5, Tankers 2, Charles 1002, Charles 1010, Charles 1005, Truck 1, Charles Rescue Squad 1010, Water supply 5 and EMS Stations 29 and Charles 1014 were alerted to 27463 James Road for the reported house on fire.

Engine 23 arrived on scene, laying their 4" LDH in from James Road to find a saw mill well involved. The crew advanced a 2" attack line from the rear and began to protect exposures, while also darkening down the fire. Tanker 2 and Engine 21 set up the drafting basin at the entrance and established the water supply for the incident.

Tankers 2, 1002, 1005 and 1010 shuttled water from a hydrant in Wicomico Shores.

Truck 1's ladder pipe was used to open up a sawdust pile and to wet the entire incident down prior to units picking up.

Units operated for approximately three hours.

The incident is being investigated by the Maryland State Fire Marshals Office.
