Fatal Collision in New Market

At 1519 hours, the rescue assignment was alerted, bringing Rescue Squad 2, Charles Rescue Squad 2, Ambulance 297, Charles Paramedic 28 and Medic 3 to Three Notch Road at New Market Road for the motor vehicle collision reported serious. Additional information relayed advised of a single vehicle into a tree with possible entrapment.

A St. Mary's Sheriffs Unit arrived and quickly advised of a priority four patient and advising to cancel the assignment. Fire Chief 2 arrived on scene and advised to keep the EMS units and Rescue Squad 2 (Sgt. Bellevou) on the call. Chief 2 quickly sized up the scene advising she needed a medevac for a priority one, category "A" patient and confirming one priority four. Firefighters quickly went to work with the crew from Charles Paramedic 28 to treat and package the critically injured patient. Part of the crew also secured the scene with caution tape as reconstructionist were enroute. Medic 3 was eventually placed in service as there was ALS intervention on the scene.

Engine 23 (Capt Emmart) responded to the Charlotte Hall Veterans Home landing pad to await Trooper 7. The patient was flown to Prince George's General.

Units operated on the scene for just over three hours, assisting with reconstruction.
