| At 0237 hours, Stations 22, 2 Charles 2, Charles Truck 3 and Ambulance 299 were alerted to 29975 Holmes Road in Golden Beach for the reported house fire. Initial reports advised that it appeared to be a golf cart type vehicle under the carport on fire. Callers also advised that everyone was believed to be out of the residence. Chief 2B arrived on side "alpha" with a one story, single family dwelling fully involved. He also advised that it would be an exterior attack and that the house had been vacant for several months. The crews off of Engine 24 and Charles Engine 23 advanced two lines knocking down the bulk of the fire. As the tankers operating on the scene supplied their water, they were returned to service.
The Fire Marshal was summoned to the scene and the fire is currently under investigation. Preliminary reports indicate the fire is suspicious in nature and may be related to other criminal activity that took place in the area. Crews operated on the scene for two and a half hours. Personnel were alerted back to the scene later in the morning to assist the State Fire Marshal's Office with their investigation. As a side note: This residence was the scene of a fire back in 2004. It was confined to the room of origin.
