| At 1119 hours, Stations 2, 22, Charles 2, Charles 5, Truck 7, Water Supply 5 and EMS Station 29 were alerted to 28622 Rollins Lane for the working house fire. Fireboard Communications advised they were receiving numerous calls on the incident. Chief 2B (Kidwell) arrived on scene advising he had a two story single family dwelling, Sides "Bravo" and "Charlie" with heavy fire on the second floor and thru the roof. Charles Engine 23 (Chief 2A Thomas)and Engine 24 (FF/EMT Kurtz) arrived minutes after with Charles Engine 23 dropping approximately 400' of supply line. The crews advanced two attack lines into the structure encountering heavy fire conditions on division two. Engine 24 and Tanker 2 picked up Charles' "wye" and supplied the scene. Truck 7 arrived and took position on Sides "Alpha" and "Bravo" and sticked the roof while the crew went to the fire floor and started to open up the walls. Command requested two additional tankers and engines to the scene, bringing Charles Tanker 1, Engine 74, Charles Engine 143 and Charles Engine 102. The crews off the engines assisted with salvage and overhaul. An additional ambulance was also sent to the scene bringing Ambulance 295. Water Supply 5 was advised to set up on the pond off of Oema Court but due to mechanical problems had to be placed out of service. Engine 23 was sent to complete that assignment. Due to the quick work of the attack crews, only one tanker was filled out of the draft site and the additional tankers were placed in service. Fire Investigators were called to the scene and the cause has been determined to be children playing with matches. Chief 2B held the "Rollins Lane Command", Chief 2A (Raley) assumed "Water Supply", Charles Chief 2A and Charles Chief 14A (Shiflett) shared "Operations" and Safety 7 (Pilkerton) had scene safety. Crews operated on the incident for approximately three hours. There were two firefighters who sufferend minor injuries, which included a laceration to the hand and a knee injury. Both were treated on the scene and resumed operating on the fireground. As always, an outpuring of support for the Amish family involved was beginning to gather as crews were picking up on the incident. One member made the comment that a new house will be under roof by Sunday! Thanks to all crews who operated on the incident. |
