At 0915 hours, Station 2, EMS Stations 29, 59 and Medic 2 were alerted to 25717 Budds Creek Road in Chaptico for the personal injury accident.

First arriving units found a "t-bone style" accident with one trapped, who was a priority one patient. The crew from Squad 2 removed the "B" post and folded back the driver's side doors in order to rapidly free the driver. A medevac was requested, however, due to the patient being a trauma code he was taken to St. Mary's Hospital by Ambulance 297 with CPR in progress. He later succumbed to his injuries.

Ambulance 597 transported the other victim, priority two, to St. Mary's Hospital.

The landing site for Trooper 7 was established by Engine 54 in an adjacent field while Engine 24 was used to divert traffic from the scene.

Units operated on the scene for approximately two hours.

The department extends its condolences to the family and friends affected by this tragedy.
