At 1342 hours Stations 2, 22, 7, Charles 2, Ladder Company 7 and EMS Station 29 were alerted for a townhouse on fire next to 39797 Hearts Desire Lane in Huntersville. Additional information advised the fire originated on the rear deck and spread up the rear of the structure.

Engine-23 arrived on scene and advised they had a three-story middle of the row townhouse with nothing evident, investigating. Lieutenant Woodill established the "Hearts Desire Lane Command" and advised the next in engine to establish water supply with the balance of the assignment "Level II" staged on Autumnwood Drive and Hearts Desire Lane. Firefighter Raley was given "Operations" by Command. Upon further investigation, the fire had been kept in check by a neighbor with a garden hose and fire extinguisher.

Crews started ventilation as the fire building was charged with moderate smoke conditions upon arrival.
The crews from Engine-23, 21 and Charles 22 checked inside the fire building for extension using the thermal imager while the crew from Truck Company 7 checked the side "Bravo" and "Delta" exposures.
Engine-72 and Charles Engine-22 were released as Command held the units from Station 2, Ladder-7 and Ambulance-295.

The State Fire Marshals Office was requested, as the owners were not home. Upon the completion of the investigation, it was ruled electrical in nature.

Firefighters then overhauled the burned area, restored equipment and went in service.
Units operated for approximately two hours and no injuries were reported.
