| On Friday, January 10th at approximately 1835 hours, Station-2, EMS Stations 29, 79, and Charles 2 were alerted for a motor vehicle collision with reported injuries. While enroute, Fireboard (communications) advised that they were receiving numerous calls and indications were serious. Rescue Squad-2 arrived and immediately went to work, stablizing the vehicles and confirming entrapment. Chief-2A arrived and established the Point Lookout Road Command and advised he had a total of four patients between the two vehicles. Command requested an additional engine to the scene for manpower and an additional engine to establish the landing site for the helicopter. The squad crew extricated two victims from a full size chevy van by removing both front doors and removing the "B" post and side doors on the passenger side. The drivers of both vehicles were medevaced by Trooper-7 to an area trauma center as a priority two and a priority one. This was one of nine incidents handled by the dedicated Mechanicsville Volunteers on this day. Others included a double fly out with entrapment on Chaptico Road, two tanker transfers, a reported structural collapse of a house under construction, a motor vehicle collision involving a school bus and a medic local to assist the ambulance. |
