On Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 2153 hours, units were dispatched to the intersection of Three Notch Road and Harpers Corner Road in Mechanicsville following reports of a motor vehicle collision with entrapment and fire.

Chief 2A, Engine 22, and Rescue Squad 2 responded to the scene.

Law enforcement officers on scene confirmed a vehicle off the roadway, fully engulfed with an occupant trapped. Engine 22 arrived on the scene to find the vehicle fully involved in fire, with bystanders actively making a rescue and pulling the driver out of the vehicle. Emergency medical crews immediately took over care of the single occupant, and a medevac helicopter was requested. Engine 22 initiated fire suppression and quickly extinguished the vehicle.

Command shut down the roadway and established a landing zone at Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department (Station 2). Maryland State Police Trooper 7 landed within 16 minutes to airlift the patient to a trauma center. Once the fire was out and the patient was successfully transferred to the helicopter, command was officially terminated.

One patient was evaluated and transported by Trooper 7.
