| On Wednesday, June 5, 2026, at 1226 hours, units were dispatched to the 37400 block of Lockes Crossing Road in Mechanicsville following reports of a commercial vehicle fire involving hazardous materials. Initial 911 calls indicated a propane truck was on fire in the roadway, with the flames spreading to a nearby front lawn and threatening a house. Chief 2A, Engine 22, Tanker 2, Engine Tanker 24, Engine 1002, Hazardous Materials Units 1016, and 18 responded to the scene. Chief 2A and Engine 22 arrived to find a pickup truck, rather than a propane truck, fully engulfed in flames in the roadway. The truck's bed was carrying two oxygen tanks and one acetylene tank. Crews immediately extinguished the fire. Command determined the hazardous materials units were not required and held the incident with Company 2 and a single ambulance only. One patient was evaluated at the scene by emergency medical services. |
