At 1010 hours, Squad 2 was dispatched to a reported motor vehicle collision with entrapment in the area of Mechanicsville Road and Gander Court.

Emergency Communications advised that a single vehicle had left the roadway and struck a tree. Initial reports indicated the vehicle was overturned with one person trapped.

Squad 2 arrived to find the vehicle resting on its driver’s side in the tree line, off the roadway. Captain 2B established Command and confirmed one patient trapped. Crews immediately began stabilization of the vehicle while preparing for extrication. Squad 1002 arrived shortly after and assisted.

The patient was extricated from the vehicle at 1031 hours and evaluated on scene by EMS personnel. Due to the patient’s injuries, a helicopter was requested.

Squad 2 established the Landing Zone at Mechanicsville Elementary School for Maryland State Police Trooper 7. The patient was transported by air to a Washington, D.C. area hospital.
