The passing of Board of Director, Life Member and Past President James “Jimmy” Burroughs

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Board of Director, Life Member, and Past President James “Jimmy” Burroughs. Jimmy passed away peacefully on Friday, December 19th, around 8:00am surrounded by his loving family.

Jimmy dedicated an extraordinary 70 years of service to the Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department and was also a charter member of the Mechanicsville Volunteer Rescue Squad. His lifelong commitment, leadership, and passion for serving others left a lasting impact on our department and the entire community.

Jimmy served our organization in numerous leadership roles, including: Assistant Secretary/Treasurer, Secretary, Vice President, Treasurer, President, Board of Director (Active), LOSAP Coordinator. He also served on the Station 2 and 22 building committees, grounds committee, banquet committee, and was the chairman for our carnival committee for numerous years.

His dedication helped shape our department and left a lasting legacy that will never be forgotten.

Arrangements are as follows: Visitation on Friday, January 2, 2026 from 5pm to 7pm with prayers at 7pm at the Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department. Viewing on Saturday,, January 3, 2026 from 9am to 10am at Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department. Mass at 11:00am at All Faith Episcopal Church in Mechanicsville.
