At 0737 hours this morning, Engine 2 and Tanker 2 with numerous mutual aide units were alerted to St. Mary’s Avenue and Old Village Road for the reports of smoke coming from a detached garage. Engine 23(Lt. Polk), Tanker 2(S/O Faunce), Tanker 224(S/O Miedzinski), and Chief 2A(Raley) made the response with 13 volunteers.

Engine 23 arrived on the scene to find smoke showing from a detached garage. Upon entering the garage the crew located a single vehicle had crashed through the garage and there was one patient in the vehicle and no active fire.

Engine 23 and Tanker 2 worked to remove debris on and around the vehicle. Once patient access was gained the crew of Engine 23 utilized the Holmatro Extrication Equipment to remove the rear door and the “B” Post on the vehicle.

EMS assessed the patient and request a helo for the patient. Engine-Tanker 224 handled the landing zone at Mechanicsville Elementary School.

Engine 23 and Tanker 2 remained on the scene ventilating smoke out of the structure and assisted Police.
