February 2, 2024

At 2000 hours Company 2 and several EMS Units were alerted to Point Lookout Road and Chaptico Road for an MVA with injuries. Rescue Squad 2 and Engine 23 will 11 volunteers quickly made the response. Upon arrival they found an occupant having a medical emergency. Ambulance 29 assisted the patient.

At 2005 hours Companies 5, 1, 7, 9, 6, and 3 were alerted to the 38000 block of Beach Road in Colton’s Point for a house fire. Police were on the scene with a working house fire.

With that, Engine 23 and Rescue Squad 2 cleared the MVC and responded to the structure fire along with Tanker 2 and Chief 2A.

Company 5 units arrived on the scene to find a 2 story, single family home, with fire throughout and declared a defensive operation.

Engine 23, Rescue Squad 2, and Chief 2A arrived and the crews went to work, with Chief 2A and Engine 23s Wagon Driver setting up a water supply plan.

Engine 23 reverse laid from Beach Road and Charles Hall Road out to Colton’s point Road. A folding tank was deployed and Engine 23 established water supply to the fire ground.

As additional engine companies arrived on the scene, Chief 2 directed them to lay additional supply lines to complete a relay operation from the drafting site.

Engine Companies 23, 73, 32, and Tankers 5, and 14 completed the relay operation which was about 2700’ of LDH supply line with 4 units pumping it at various points. Each tanker dumped one load of water at the dump site to maintain water supply during the set up of the relay and water supply wasn’t interrupted after the initial set up with Engine 23 at the folding tank was completed.

Additionally, Command requested Boats 4 and 6 be added to the incident. They responded and established a secondary water supply from the pier adjacent to the house and eventually supplied the fire ground as well.

Engine 23 and Rescue Squad 2’s crews operated on the fire ground assisting with extinguishment and overhaul for approximately 3 hours. Chief 2A was the Water Supply Group Supervisor. Chief 5A held the Colton’s Point Command.
