MVA with Entrapment in Mechanicsville

On Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at 1548 hours, the Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department and surrounding agencies were alerted for a motor vehicle accident reported serious with entrapment in the area of Bert's 50 Diner on Three Notch Road in Mechanicsville. Chief 2, Chief 2B, Rescue Squad 2, and Engine 21 made the response.

Crews arrived on the scene to find three vehicles in the median with one subject trapped. Crews quickly began extricating the trapped occupant utilizing the "Jaws of Life". Crews removed two doors, a “B” Post, flapped the roof, and lifted the dash of the vehicle with the trapped occupant. Extrication was complete in approximately 20 minutes.

A helicopter was requested for two patients with serious injuries. Maryland State Police Helicopter Trooper 7 landed near the scene and transported two patients to an area trauma center.

Command was terminated at 1646 hours.
