On Monday, August 17, 2020, the Mechanicsville Firefighters went to one of our normal drafting sites to practice Rural Water Supply Operations. Our Operators put their skills to test by obtaining a draft from a single intake without using the primer. Once all Operators performed this task, drill shifted by maximizing Engine 23's 1250 GPM pump. Operators utilized 3 intakes, and obtained a rate of 2600 GPM. Drafting is very vital to our department due to the minimum amount of hydrants in the area.
