House Fire off Thompson Corner Road

At 1330 hours, Engine 2 and Rescue 2 were alerted with surrounding companies to 27200 Thompson Corner Road for the reported house fire. Engine 24(Sgt. Senatore) and Rescue 2(Lt. Barnes) went enroute with 8 at dispatch. St. Marys advised one call reporting heavy smoke coming from a home. Supplemental information advised numerous calls were coming in all advising the house was on fire.

Engine 24 and Rescue 2 arrived to find a one story, single family home with fire showing from the first floor and the attic space. Crews deployed a handline, forced entry into the residence, and began searches while attacking the fire. The homeowner arrived and advised of a dog that was in the residence.

Crews knocked the fire down within 10 minutes and were unable to locate the K9 during the primary search of the residence.

The secondary search revealed the K9 had perished in the fire.

Crews worked for approximately an hour and a half performing overhaul of the effected areas of the home and assisting the state fire marshal with their investigation.

Chief 1002 held the Thompson Corner Command.
