At 1503 hours, Company 2 was alerted for a MVA reported serious at the intersection of Three Notch Road and Thompson Corner Road. Squad 2 and Rescue Engine 22 made the response with 8 personnel.

As units responded, additional information was relayed that one patient had a possible partial leg amputation. With this information, Trooper 7 was automatically started.

Units arrived on scene to find a two vehicle “T-bone” style accident having one vehicle with entrapment and the other with a priority patient. Crews quickly split into two teams. One assisted with the priority patient and the other with extrication. A tourniquet was quickly applied to control the bleeding of a open compound fracture to the leg of the priority patient.

An assessment of the scene determined there were four patients total and one vehicle requiring removal of the driver’s door.

Trooper 7 transported the priority patient to an area Trauma Center. Ambulance 296 also transported one patient Priority 2 to an area Trauma Center but later upgraded to Priority 1. Ambulance 1002 obtained one signed refusal and transported one to St. Mary’s Hospital Priority 3.

Units operated on scene for approximately 50 minutes.

Squad 2 held the “Three Notch Road Command”.

The intersection was closed for some time due to scene reconstruction.
