With that, Squad 2 with 7, Tanker 24 with 7, and Tanker 2 with 2 made the response immediately after dispatch.

While units were enroute, Chief 7 declared a MAYDAY for a crew member from Engine 72 after the 1st floor collapsed into the basement on top of the crew. The firefighter was quickly removed from the debris and was uninjured.

Units from Mechanicsville arrived and were originally assigned to stage. Then were utilized on Division 1 and in the Basement to assist with fire attack and then overhaul.

Captain 2 was assigned Division 1. Crews worked for approximately 45 minutes to gain access into the attic space that was enclosed with plywood and drywall to extinguish the attic fire.
