Just after 2145 hours Squads 2, 7, and EMS were alerted for an accident with injuries on Three Notch Rd near Mount Zion Church Rd. Rescue Engine 22 was already committed to a fill in at the Seventh District VFD for their Banquet. Engine 23 responded immediately having just been cleared from a reported house fire in Charles County. Squad 2 responded shortly after. Units arrived on the scene to find a passenger van off the roadway with a single occupant. The drivers right foot had become heavily pinned in the passenger side footwell. Crew from Companies 2 and 7 worked for approximately 40 minutes to remove the doors, lift the dash, and free the pinned foot. The ambulance and medic unit transported the patient to PG Trauma Priority 2. Afterwards a brief hot-wash was conducted discussing the incident. Units operated on the scene for approximately 1 hour before returning to quarters for another 30 minutes cleaning tools and returning equipment to service. |
