The Mechanicsville Volunteers were alerted to the 27000 block of Barton St for the working house fire at 1703. Initial reports advised thick black smoke and fire inside the house. Engine and Tanker 2 were dispatched for the call. Tanker 24(Fire Chief Trowbridge) responded shortly after dispatch with 5 personnel due to the location being a non hydrant area. Engine 23(Deputy Chief Hemming) responded shortly after with 3 personnel. Squad 2(LT. Raley) responded with the additional crew with 5 personnel.

Tanker 24 arrived on the scene and assumed second due engine responsibilities and assisted with fire attack. Engine 23 pulled a draft for water supply operations at Sandgates Restaurant. Squad 2 arrived and was assigned RIT until being assigned to completing a secondary search to find a missing animal and then assisted with overhaul operations.
