Major Events During the Year:
In February our Ladies Auxiliary welcomed its first male members. It has since been renamed to the Mechanicsville VFD Auxiliary.
In 2017 our firehouse project was completed, replacing much of the original firehouse that was built in 1976. Evaluation by an architectural firm determined that replacement was more cost effective than remodel. The firehouse has six pull thru bays and one half bay with radiant heat. There are ten individual bunk-rooms as well as a large common bunk room. We will also have a training tower for standpipe, hose, ladder and rope evolution's. There is a apparatus maintenance bay and offices for both operational and administrative positions as well as a new fitness room.
We held our Open House on June 3 2017.
In October we received a grant from Firehouse Subs for new extrication and rope equipment. The total received was $7328.82
