The Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. has started off the year with high hopes that the construction of our firehouse will soon be completed. I want to publicly thank the members for their dedication and commitment to serving our community while operating out of less than favorable conditions for the past year and a half. The department usually holds its Annual Installation of Officers and Awards Banquet on the third Saturday of January. This year the Department voted not to have the 2017 banquet due to the Fire Station not being completed. The members voted to have a members open house & awards ceremony once we move into the new station. In addition, the department will hold a public open house at a later date.

On January 5, 2017, President Montgomery held a Board of Directors meeting. During that meeting the Board members were sworn in to their respective office by William G. Wilkerson, who is one of our Board of Directors and a past President of the Southern Maryland Vol. Fire Association.

On January 9, 2017, The Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department held its monthly Business meeting. Installing the officers was first on the agenda. Past President of the Southern Maryland Vol. Firemens Association and Board member William G. Wilkerson, did the swearing in of the Fire Department officers.

Tara Wood, Past President of the Southern Maryland Ladies Auxiliary, did the swearing in of the Ladies Auxiliary Officers at their Business meeting on January 24th, 2017.
