Mass Casualty Incident in New Market

At 0025 hours, the RES2CUE was alerted to 37401 New Market Road for the motor vehicle accident involving an Amish buggy and passenger car. Initial reports to units responding advised of several patients laying in the road.

Units arrived to find a total of nine patients, all with various injuries, some severe and requested additional resources to include four medevac helicopters, several more ambulances, the mass casualty unit from Waldorf and additional engines for landing sites.

A total of seven of patients were flown from the scene by Troopers 7, 2 and U. S. Park Police. Trooper 2 made a second mission to the scene, as other helicopters were down due to fog. Two patients denied any injuries.

Units operated for approximately two and a half hours.
