Volunteers Handle Serious Accident on Mechanicsville Road

At 1424 hours, the Mechanicsville Volunteers, along with surrounding companies were alerted to Mechanicsville Road @ Gander Court, for the Motor Vehicle Accident, reported head-on and serious.

Chief 2B(Bellevou), the Rescue(Lt. Barnes), Engine 24(S/O Raley), Engine 21(FF Pilkerton), and the Rescue Engine(FF Hemming) made the response and arrived immediately after dispatch.

Chief 2B confirmed the reports, advised he had entrapment, needed five ambulances, requested the status of the medevacs, due to weather, and established the command.

Crews went to work assessing patients, stabilizing vehicles, and started extrication. Crews found two priority one patients and extricated same. Fireboard advised all medevacs were down due to weather. EMS crews packaged and transported the five patients to area trauma centers.

Command was terminated and units returned.
