House Fire in Oakville

At 1921 hours Engine 7, Engine 2, Engine 9, Tanker 2, Tanker 1, Tanker 9, Truck 7, Rescue Squad 1, Ambulance 798, and Ambulance 299 were dispatched to 26145 Barnes Ct. in Oakville for the reported house fire. Engine 21 and Engine 24, as the tanker, made the response.

While responding Communications advised that Maryland State Police were on the scene with smoke showing and one burn patient. The Medic Unit was added to the call with the report of one patient burned. Chief 7A and Engine 72 arrived on location with Engine 72 laying in from the closest intersection and Chief 7A establishing the Command. Units found a one story single family home with fire showing from side "A" of the structure. Engine 21 arrived and placed a second line in service with Chief 2B assuming the "Fire Attack Group Supervisor". Tanker 74 arrived and established a Water Supply with Tanker 24, Tanker 14, Engine 73, and Water Supply 5. Engine 73 and Water Supply 5 were sent to two different fill site locations but only one location was utilized

Ambulance 798 evaluated the burn patient and requested MSP Aviation for transport to the Burn Center. The patient was found with thirty percent second degree burns to the upper body and was a Priority 2 Category "B" Trauma. Tanker 93 established the Landing Zone for Trooper 7 at Oakville Elementary School and the patient was transported to MEDSTAR Washington.

The bulk of the fire was knocked down within fifteen minutes of arrival of the units who found fire in two rooms and extension to the attic area of the house. All searches proved negative and Command held units from Company 7 and Company 2 for extensive overhaul.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office is handling the investigation and no other injuries were reported.
