At 1700 hours, Stations 2, Charles 2, 7, Truck 7, Water Supply 5 and EMS Station 29 were alerted to 28110 Mechanicsville Road for the reported barn on fire.

Fire Chief 2 arrived confirming a working structure fire and advised it would initially be a defensive attack. He established the "Mechanicsville Road Command". Several explosions were occurring as units arrived on scene. Engine 24 dropped their 4" LDH on Mechanicsville Road and positioned in the next driveway past the scene. Engine 24's crew advanced the 2.5" and quickly knocked the bulk of the fire. The incident was scaled back to the units from Stations 2, 7, 1, Water supply 5 and the ambulance. Water Supply 5 set up on a hydrant at Wild Goose Crest subdivision to fill tankers.

Crews worked for approximately an hour to overhaul the structure.

The fire is under investigation by the Maryland State Fire Marshals office. If anyone has information they are encouraged to call their office.

Units operated on the scene for approximately two and a half hours.

Thanks to Bay District Engine 93 for filling our station during the incident.
