Reported Building Fire at Food Lion

At 1203 hours, Station 2 was alerted to 37701 Mount Wolfe Road at the Food Lion for the reported building fire. Initial reports advised of smoke in the building with sprinkler activation.

Charles Chief 2B, Engine 23 and Rescue Squad 2 arrived to find a sprinkler activated at the entrance of the store and an odor of smoke in the building. The building had been evacuated. The engine crew stretched the four hundred and found a burnt motor on the sprinkler pump.

The assignment was scaled back to the units from Station 2. The water was secured to the building as was power to the sprinkler room.

The building was closed for business for clean up and repair.

Units operated for forty-five minutes.
