Collision Results in Four Trapped in Mechanicsville

At 0955 hours, Rescue Squad 2 was alerted with EMS Stations 29, Charles 1002 and SMALS for the motor vehicle accident on Three Notch Road at the intersection of Flora Corner Road. Initial reports advised of entrapment.

The Rescue arrived to find a "t-bone" style collision, with all occupants still in their vehicles. After a quick size-up, there were four confined in one vehicle and the operator of the second vehicle was able to self extricate. The rescue crew went to work stabilizing the vehicle with the entrapped and prepared for extrication. The crew removed all four doors and were assisted by the crew from Rescue Squad 7 with removing the roof.

A medevac was requested and Trooper 7 responded. Two patients were flown to Childrens National Medical Center in Washington and three patients were transported to Medstar St. Mary's Hospital.

Units operated for just over an hour.
