Just after the lunch hour, Engine Companies 3, 4, 9, and 6, Truck 3, Water Supply 5, and multiple EMS units were alerted to 19555 Three Notch Road, for the reported house fire, with a subject trapped.

Safety 4A arrived a short time later advising he was on the scene of a split-level house, with smoke showing and confirming one subject trapped. Engine 33, 31, Truck 3, and Chief 3A arrived and units went to work stretching lines and making the rescue.

Engine 33s crew found the victim seconds after entering the structure, removing her from the residence and began CPR.

Due to a well-advanced, wind-driven fire, crews were forced to evacuate the structure and begin a defensive attack. Command requested four additional tankers, bringing Engine 24(Sgt. Raley) to the scene.

The fire was brought under control in about hour and crews spent another couple hours hitting hot spots. Engine 24 supplied two loads of water to the fireground and the crew worked in the garage area knocking down hot spots for approximately forty-five minutes before returning to service.

The Mechanicsville Volunteers would like to express our condolences to the family and friends affected from this incident.
