The Volunteers staffing "The Duece" answered nine calls for service today. They were awoken for the first one just after midnight when a severe thunderstorm rolled thru the area and would answer six more before lunch.

Two car accidents, one of which involved an overturned vehicle on Mechanicsville Road, and a shed fire off of Queentree Road were three of the nine handled.

As strong storms rolled thru the county late afternoon, several crews remained at the station ready to answer additional alarms.
