At 2145 hours, Rescue Engine 22 was alerted to Freds Liquors, on Three Notch Road in Charlotte Hall, for a motor vehicle accident reported vehicle into the building. Initial information advised there were no injuries. Rescue Engine 22(Lt. Cox) made the response and upon arrival found a white minivan into the rear of Griffins Barbecue.

The crews began to assess the building and vehicle. As crews went to the front door, they immediately noticed an odor of propane and could see the vapor cloud pouring out the front door. The assignment was immediately upgraded bringing Station 22, Charles Squad 2, Charles Engine 5, and Truck 7. The Rescue Engine deployed an attack line, forced the kitchen door to access utilities, and began to run a meter through the structure.

Once crews secured all utilities and completed metering the structure, two PPV fans off Engine 23 and Rescue Enigne 22 were set up at the front door for ventilation. The assignment was scaled back to Company 2 units, Charles Rescue Squad 2 and the ambulance.

As Charles Squad 2 was clearing fire board asked them to go to the Exxon station for a fuel spill as the operator of the van had placed gasoline in a styrofoam cooler and it disintegrated the styrofoam and poured out.

The building was deemed unsafe and was turned over to the police.
