At 1352 hours, while crews were eating lunch, Engine Company 2, Charles 2, Charles 5, EMS Stations 29, Charles 2, and the Medic unit were alerted to Northbound Three Notch in front of the 84 Lumber, for the motor vehicle accident with reports of a subject trapped.

Rescue Engine 22 and the Deputy Fire Chief (Woodill) went enroute at dispatch. The Deputy and Rescue arrived first, finding one car that had struck a tree, and the driver was heavily entrapped. Captain 2 was next to arrive and took the extrication group supervisor with Chief 2B establishing the "New Market Command."

Crews assessed the scene and found they would need to take both drivers side doors, the roof, and perform a dash roll to free the driver. Charles Engine 22 arrived and assisted with extrication.

The extrication was done with due regard as a result of the way the patient was situated in the vehicle.

The patient was flown to an area trauma center. Engine 24 and 223 established the landing zone in the parking lot of the ADF Bingo.
