Moments later, as Engine 24 was returning to quaters from a first due box,the assignment was upgraded with a subject trapped bringing Rescue Engine 22, Squad 1, and SMALS.
Rescue Engine 22 (Lt. Cox) made the response with 5 volunteers and arrived finding one car, that had struck a utility pole with the passenger trapped. Firefighters believed it was going to be a "door pop" and began removing the door. Once the door was popped, crews found that the patients legs were pinned under the dash.
The Rescue Engine crew removed the passenger side doors, "B" post, and rolled the dash to extricate the patient in under 10 minutes. The patient was then flown to PG Trauma Center by Trooper 7 and units returned to service. |
