| At 1744 hours, the working fire assignment was sent to 28270 Old Village Road in Mechanicsville for the house on fire. This alerted Stations 2, Charles 2, Charles 5, 7, Truck 7, Water Supply 5 and EMS Stations 29 and Charles 2. Engine 23 went enroute at dispatch, reporting a working fire from quarters. Engine 24 was clearing a medevac and responded from the southern end of the first due.
The crew initially advanced a 1.75" making an attack on the fire and as additional units arrived several lines were stretched into the structure. Crews encountered fire on all three divisions, which was stubborn to contain with the balloon frame and lathe and plaster construction. With all crews working, Command requested two additional engines and a special service to the scene for manpower bringing Engine 51 (enroute to fill Station 2) Engine 11 and Truck 1 to the scene. Firefighters worked together to bring the fire under control and completed extensive overhaul. Units operated on the scene for four hours and thirty minutes. Chief 2B (Bellevou) held the "Old Village Road Command" Engine 93 handled the fill in at Station 2. Special thanks to the ladies auxiliary for bringing rehab to the scene. For additional pictures
