| At 1556 hours Stations 22 and 2 were alerted for a smoke investigation in the area of Triangle Drive and Golden Beach Road. Jeep 22 (Chief 22B) followed by Engine 21 (Chief 2) arrived on scene to find a woods fire well off the roadway. At this time, an additional brush unit and ambulance were requested. Chief 2 instructed Engine 21 to take the hydrant at the intersection and for the crew to stretch a 2.5" leader line into the fire scene. The "Trash Line" was placed in service once the leader line was advanced. Jeep 22 also made its way into the scene and extinguished hot spots. The crew from Brush 2 assisted Engine 21's crew in making quick work of the fire. While firefighters were working on the scene, tents were noticed that belonged to local homeless people who had set up a mini campground in the area. The St. Mary's Sheriff's Office and Maryland Department of Natural Resources were called to the scene. Charles Engine 24 was not needed and placed in service. Chief 2 (Raley) held the "Golden Beach Road Command" and units operated on the scene just over an hour. |
