One Trapped in Mechanicsville

By Assistant Chief John Raley
November 4, 2009

At 2105 hours, the rescue assignment was alerted to Three Notch Road and Hills Club Road for the motor vehicle accident. As the assigment was being dispatched, additional calls were being received advising one trapped, upgrading the assignment bringing Charles Rescue Squad 2 and SMALS Medic 1 to the incident.

Rescue Squad 2 and Rescue Engine 222 went on the scene at dispatch, confirming one trapped. Captain Hemming established the "Three Notch Road Command." After assessing the scene, command held the units from Station 2 and the BLS units from 29 and returned the rest. Firefighters removed the roof using the Hurst tools off the rescue and engine in order to free the trapped occupant.

Once the patients' injuries were assessed, one was transported to St. Mary's Hospital, a medevac was requested for the patient who was trapped and one signed a release.

Rescue Engine 222 established the landing site at Station 2 for Trooper 7. This patient was transported to Prince George's General.

Units operated for just over an hour on the incident.

Units: Rescue Squad 2, Rescue Engine 222
Mutual Aid: Ambulance 298, Ambulance 299, Charles Ambulance 28, Charles Rescue Squad 2
