Vehicle Submerged in Patuxent River

By Assistant Chief John Raley
June 19, 2007

At 1042 hours, Stations 22, 2, Charles Boat 5, Raft 7, EMS Stations 29 and Charles 2 were alerted to Shoreview Drive at the Indian Creek Pier for the vehicle into the water. Initial reports advised that callers were unsure if the vehicle was occupied.

Rescue Squad 2 (FF/EMT Colvin) arrived on scene and positioned on the boat ramp. The crew stood by on the pier while Charles Boat 5 operated around the submerged vehicle. There were no occupants located in the passenger compartment of the vehicle, however units stood by until the car was pulled from the Patuxent River and thoroughly checked.

Squad 2 utilized its winch to pull the vehicle up onto the boat ramp. Once there, it was checked and confirmed that there were no occupants. A check of the vehicle by sheriff's department officers revealed the vehicle was stolen from Charles County.

There were several incidents that took place in the Golden Beach area between June 19th and 20th, including the house fire on Holmes Road, that may be connected. If anyone has any information regarding these incidents they are asked to call the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Department at 301-475-8008 or 301-475-3333 (Crime Solvers).
