Company Handles First Due Extrication

On Friday evening, Rescue 2, Squad 10-02, and surrounding EMS units were alerted to Three Notch Road and Mechanicsville Road, for a reported serious motor vehicle accident. Rescue 2 arrived with two ambulances from Co29 moments later. Chief 2A established command and advised of five trauma patients with two trapped, one requiring a lengthy extrication.

The crew from Rescue 2 split, extricating the first patient while the driver and another member went to work stabilizing the truck that was in an sediment pond. Squad 10-02, Engine 23, and Engine 24 arrived shortly after. The extrication of the second patient was completed in about twenty minutes.

EMS units requested helos for several patients to be flown to area trauma centers. In all, five patients were treated and flown to an area hospital via Trooper 7, Trooper 2, and Eagle 2.

Engine 24 handled the landing site at the accident scene.

Units operated for about two hours.
