The Department sold our 1987 Pierce Arrow to the Bakerton Fire Company, located in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. Members from Bakerton had been to our station several times to look over the apparatus. A couple days after their last visit, Chief Raley received a phone call from Chief Smith of Bakerton with an offer to purchase the unit. Once the necessary approvals had been completed between each department, we placed the engine out of service and started the process of removing the equipment that wasn't part of the sale.
Chief Raley received a phone call on Wednesday afternoon from Chief Smith advising they wanted to come finalize the deal and bring the engine to her new home. At 1900 hours, President Smith and Captain Whittington arrived at Station 2. Once all the necessary signatures were obtained to complete the paperwork and sale, the unit officially became part of the Bakerton Fire Company.
The engine served us well for twenty-eight years. It was the workhorse of the Company during it's time and we are sure it will continue serving for many years at her new home.
It was a pleasure working with President Smith, Chief Smith, Captain Whittington and the rest of the Bakerton Fire Company. New friendships were born and we look forward to seeing pictures of the engine once it gets in service. |
