By Chief John Raley
May 11, 2013

At 0026, Stations 2, Charles 14, Charles 2, 5, Truck 1 and Ambulance 298, Charles EMS Stations 14 and 2 were alerted to 35903 Army Navy Drive in Wicomico Shores for the house fire with reported numerous subjects trapped. Information relayed to responding units was there was a large house party taking place at the residence and law enforcement personnel had already responded out earlier in the evening and were responding with us again due to a report of a disturbance.

A second alarm was started with the information being received from additional calls reporting there were several subjects in the residence who were unable to get out and the entire house was on fire. Charles County Chief 1B arrived on the scene and advised there had been a fire in the basement, which was knocked down with a garden hose. With this info, the second alarm units were placed in service and Chief 2 established the "Army Navy Drive Command". Units were staged at the Wicomico Shores Clubhouse and after a check for extension command held Engine 21, Rescue Engine 22 (special service), Charles Engines 23, 143 and EMS units from 29 and Charles 14.

One subject was transported to Medstar St. Mary's Hospital for burns to the face. The State Fire Marshal was requested as the fire was suspicious in nature and is under investigation at this time.

Red Cross was also notified and is assisting the family.

Units operated on the incident for approximately two hours.
