Early Morning Rollover Involving an 18 Wheeler

At 0442 hours, Rescue Engine 22 was alerted with Ambulance 298, Charles EMS 2 and SMALS for the motor vehicle accident, reported 18 wheeler overturned into a utility pole, on Thompson Corner Road at Lockes Crossing Road.

Fire Chief 2, Chief 2A and Rescue Engine 22 made the response and arrived to confirm an 18 wheeler overturned into a ditch and against a utility pole. The operator had self extricated himself prior to our arrival. The crew checked the vehicle for hazards, finding a couple small leaks thus applying absorbant and containment pads to absorb the fluids.

Ambulance 298 obtained a signed refusal and the assignment was scaled back to just the rescue engine.

The engine stood by until the tractor and trailer were uprighted and operated on the incident for approximately two hours.
