By Chief John Raley
April 29, 2013

At 1500 hours, Rescue Engine 22, Charles Rescue Squad 2, EMS Stations 29, Charles 2 and Medic 1 were alerted to Point Lookout Road and Millies Lane in Mechanicsville for the motor vehicle accident with entrapment.

Rescue Engine 22 (Lt Bryant), along with Fire Chief 2 arrived to find a two vehicle rear-end style collision with both vehicles off the roadway. The operators were both out of the vehicles, which had sustained significant damage, but an infant was trapped in the back seat. The assignment was scaled back to the units from Stations 2 and 29.

The rescue engine crew used the Hurst equipment to pop the back door in order to remove the infant.

Ambulance 298 transported two to Medstar St. Mary's Hospital while Ambulance 296 obtained a signed refusal.

Units operated on the incident for just over twenty minutes.

Units: Rescue Engine 22, Engine 21, Fire Chief 2

Mutual Aid: Ambulance 298, Ambulance 296
