Pierce Completes Construction of New Rescue

041913 The journey has come full circle this week. The new squad finished up on the build line with completion of all components added, testing and all graphics installed. It left Appleton today with other apparatus to be on display at the Fire Department Instructors Conference in Indianapolis next week. Committee members are scheduled to head to Pierce on May 5th to conduct the final inspection. We are very proud of the unit and pleased with the job that Pierce did on it. Special thanks are extended to Randy Schwartz of Atlantic Emergency Solutions for his assistance with this project. A new story will be written with pictures when the final inspection is completed.

041213 Work continued this week on completing the crew area. Seating and SCBA brackets were installed as well as equipment partitions. The body scotchlite was started as was the gold leaf trim on the compartment doors. Completion of the rear step and stainless entry panels added. The cab front was also finished with the addition of the scene lights, drive camera, bumper components and emergency lighting. Next week, lettering will be completed and the vehicle will be prepped for completion.

040513 This week work continued with wiring, component installation and scotchlite striping on the cab and goldleaf application. Next week the crew area should be completed and continuation of lettering and graphics. Additionally, the rig goes for testing.

032913 Work continued on adding components to the cab and body. Shelving was finished in the body and warning lights added to the front of the cab. Installation of the bumper and work started on the changes that were made at the in process inspection. Lettering and graphics will start next week.

032213 Members of the Apparatus Committee (Fire Chief Raley, Chairman Guyther, Lt. Bryant and Engineer Roache) made the trip to Pierce to conduct and in process inspection of the new rescue. Once at the plant, members completed a walk around for about an hour before getting to work. The crew working on the unit is top notch and went out of their way to accomodate us. The unit is coming along nicely and work continues with a completion date set for mid April.

031513 This week, assembly of our new apparatus continued with installation of wiring, trim, lighting, reels, shelving and compartment components. Next week, committee members will be traveling to Pierce to conduct an in process inspection of the rig.

030813 This week, the apparatus body was mounted on the chassis followed by installation of wiring, trim, lighting, compartment components, etc. Next week, expect work to continue with mounting of reels and other compartment components.

030113 This week the cab completed the cab build line and was mounted on the chasis. The drivetrain was completed. Work on the body continued with installation of wiring, trim, and lighting. Next week, the body is to be mounted on chasis on Tuesday.

022213 Alot of work took place since the last update. The apparatus cab was on the cab build line where wiring, lights, switch panels, etc. are installed. the chasis completed frame-up and started the chassis line where drivetrain was installed. Work on the body continues with installation of wiring, trim, lighting, etc. Next week, we expect the cab to be mounted on chassis.

021513 The apparatus cab is still staged awaiting to go on the build line. The body has been assigned to a bay to continue build up.

020813 The apparatus cab was staged for the cab build line. The body continued with paint process. Next week, the body is expected to complete paint process and be scheduled for a bay to continue production. Expect cab to be scheduled for the cab build line and chassis for frame-up soon.

020113 The apparatus cab was staged for the cab build line. The body completed fabrication and began paint process.

012513 Cab has completed paint and body fabrication has started.

011813 Cab has completed rough weld and fabrication. It has been prepped for paint.

010813 Construction has started on the new Rescue Squad 2. The cab is currently in fabrication and should finish up this week and start the paint process.

The chassis should start frame up soon as well as fabrication of the body in the next couple weeks. Tenative completion is scheduled to be at the end of March.

We will be getting progress reports weekly.
